NZIAHS Emerging Scientist Award (by nomination)

Purpose: The Emerging Scientist Award is the second premier award of NZIAHS. This award will recognise significant achievement and outstanding contribution by an emerging scientist dedicated to research and science leadership in the promotion of agriculture and horticulture. This award will recognise someone who is in mid-career but has already demonstrated that they will likely go on to make an outstanding contribution to primary resource science.

Value: Engraved medal

Eligibility: Nominees should be a NZIAHS Full Member and have been a member of the Institute for at least 5 years to qualify for the award. The award is restricted to nominees who have between 7 and 12 years research experience since the completion of their PhD. Exceptions may be made for people who have had a demonstrable break in their career, e.g. for parenting young children. Where no nominations of sufficient merit are received, no award will be made in that year.

Procedure: All nominations must be made on the NZIAHS nomination form. Nominations should include a curriculum vitae and any other supporting material that highlights the nominee's contribution to agricultural or horticultural science. A brief 100-word citation suitable for publicising their contribution should also be submitted.

Selection: Nominations are first reviewed by the Awards Committee and then further reviewed by Council.
