DairyNZ opens the gate to research farms during annual meeting

DairyNZ is inviting farmers to see some of their levy in action on its Waikato research farms as part of the Annual Meeting proceedings this year.

DairyNZ chair Tracy Brown says farmers have said they appreciate greater access to DairyNZ science and solutions, and a clear view of where their levy is invested.

“These farms are assets to the sector, and we want farmers to see how hard we’re working on their behalf, while also providing a clear update on our operations and financials,” says Tracy.

Dairy farmers are now being asked to share their views on key resolutions, the outcomes of which will be shared at DairyNZ’s annual meeting in Hamilton on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

This year, besides  members are being asked to consider two key resolutions – the ratification of board-appointed independent director, Mark Todd, and the remuneration of DairyNZ directors.

Besides governance issues, all levy payers can have their say on the proposed Biosecurity Response Levy changes, while only Members of DairyNZ Inc can vote on the Annual Meeting resolutions.

Submissions are open until 12 noon, Tuesday, 4 November. Find out more at dairynz.co.nz/elections

Ahead of the Annual Meeting, levy paying farmers are invited to tour DairyNZ’s purpose-built research farms, Scott Farm and Lye Farm in Waikato, from 10am on Thursday 6 November.

Visitors will see the individual animal intake units used for detailed animal and methane emissions research, and hear from DairyNZ scientists about the latest research, tools and on-farm solutions.
